This is our core workshop. It aims to establish deep-seated knowledge in computer programming and to get our students hands-on experience with Java. Since a large portion of the brain is dedicated to vision, this workshop is designed around visual learning to introduce programming concepts such as variables, functions, and loops. Students will learn to code via labs and activities.

Ages: 11 - 14
Sessions: 1 day per week for 5 weeks

In this workshop students will explore the Raspberry Pi, a credit-card-sized computer for teaching computer science. String has put together a customized learning kit that builds on its educational foundations to subtly teach about computer science, hardware, and programming. After learning about the Raspberry Pi and assembling their computers, students will complete a series of programming activities and projects on their Raspberry Pi.
